Why Not Re-Purpose an Under-Utilized Room?

These homeowners had a large living room that was used only as a place where their teenaged boys used a computer in an armoire that is not in the "before" view above. The living room was never used as a living room, and as you can see, it served as a collection room to get things out of the way. The dining room was small to start out with, and the table and chairs were too big for it. When the family ate their evening meal together each night, it was difficult to navigate behind a chair with a person sitting in it.
Since the living room had a beautiful fireplace in it, and lovely antiques that complimented the table, it better served the family as a dining room! So the switch was made! The living room was redesigned as an old fashioned dining room, and the small dining room was redesigned as a study where the boys could use the computer, still housed in an armoire.
Nothing new was purchased!
