What to Do About the Shower Door

So, OK, glass shower doors are more expensive that a plain old curtain, and frameless glass is even more expensive. But now, I think my bathroom will be perfectly designed if I extend the shower out a bit and glam it up.

Right now the shower is only 36" deep and 34"wide. I am going to pull it out to within 4" of the window. On the other side, I will have a half wall built so that the tile will come out just as far. The glass structure will then take a turn and fill in the top of the ledge we create. I know I want brushed nickel for any finishes, so that they match the faucets.

I went to a few local glass places and got some quotes, I brought with me my tile so that they could see that for about 8" vertically, the glass would not be a smooth surface to attache the glass to. Wow, the price blew me away! Luckily, I have a hundred or so best buddies in the design field and called upon a bathroom designer I had met and spoken with several times. She recommended I call The Glass House Glass Company in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, quite a hike a way.

I did, and his price was a good 38% lower! She had seen his work and was quite happy with it. Wow, doesn't it pay to have friends in the design business?

So here is Orny Beltrame of The Glass House Glass Company.

And now we are ready to start demolition!
